My Story

"That dark cave you fear the most Is the exact one you are to enter."

My first MONAT products were half-used hand me downs from my sister. I thought, just another hair brand with empty promises (for probably waaay too much). So they sat on the shower shelf for two whole weeks.

Then I used them —WOW! I researched the brand. I met women who were supporting their families by simply sharing these products. Products that I was already telling my friends about.... I saw the bigger picture. It was EPIC!!! #HairGains #HairBoss #FamilyFirst"

I was too close minded

I was given a half used bottle of the volume system to try because I was to closed minded to sign up as a VIP let pay full retail price. I had zero interest in doing anything else with it. Ever. This one decision, though totally accidental, set in motion a whole new profession and lifestyle for an oily, dull hair, zero confidence stay at home mom that just didn’t want to look like she hasn't seen the light of day in months. I didn’t have anything going for me. I had no skills that equated to this online business world or hair care what-so-ever. I wasn’t confident in my hair, like at all, and I hadn’t really even cared to learn at all, like no desire to. I was terrified of talking to people about hair and paralyzed at the idea of selling anything.

I had no clue!

The truth is I did have a tough road ahead of me because I was entering an industry I had no clue about and would anyone listen to someone like me.

If I could give you one piece of rock-solid advice, you can learn anything with a drive and desire You want a business to call your own and you want to build something the impacts others and helps change lives. We are all given the exact same opportunity — what we are taught to do with it makes all the difference.

What you just read is my official mission statement. Wasn't it great!  It took a little more time to come up with than the business’s name. I landed on Tommie Nichole because I wanted something that would stick with me no matter where I was on this journey.

Every business starts with a problem. Mine was that I believe we all want to be a part of something and to enrich our lives and what better way than with hair. I was working as a bartender moonlighting as a self-proclaimed fitness fanatic after hours, when—long story short—my world crumbled right before my eyes. I was way broke, broken and living in a broken marriage at 34.
I threw a peace sign up at the bartending door and the gym door, and started just focusing on me and my family. Mind you, I was still very broke. I was amazed at how my life began to come together. I didn’t always have this business: the clients, our team, the sales, the followers... in fact, just a few years ago you could have found me hiding in our one room, exhausted still in my workout clothes. I thought we were on our way to our dream life, but that dream turned into an unwanted nightmare. Wait, how did I end up in this hair gig. Literally, one day just fell in my lap. If I have ever hustled this was the time!

I started my business because I believe there’s an alternative.

TO CREATE MOTIVATION OVER COMPLACENCY

TO CREATE COMMUNITY OVER COMPETITION

TO CREATE WONDER OVER WORRY

IN A NOISY WORLD.

By showing creatives how to live out their vision with their hair (literally),
they’re able to pull one of the strongest levers there is in this industry.

By taking the guesswork off your plates,
you get to focus on and rest in you're strengths.

Story, caring, and legacy matters. Let's tell yours.

YOU CAN WORK FROM A PLACE OF REST—NOT HUSTLE.

My name is Tommie Nichole, which I hated when I young and answering to the teacher as she called my name aloud and rather don’t mind it now. I grew up in Oklahoma, raised around cows and garden pickin', Jesus and Saturday morning shenanigans.

I have a fast-moving shower brain (they exists) and a Type Z right-brain (they also exist).

And what I realized along the way is that I was comfortable with creativity when the technique bent towards being a rebel. When the breakin' the rules met hair. When this rebel met beauty, I—of course—didn’t elevate it to such a nuance: I just knew the feeling of not taking this risk I felt too common and chicken to, and too creative to just sit behind a computer and enter numbers all day long.

But when you grow up, that thing that made you frustrated becomes the thing that gives you force. Kryptonite, you know. A brain spangled between a creative and chaos turned out to be good raw material for a momma with a rebel heart and a passion for hair.

Telling stories on this new trend turned into telling stories with a natural hair care product in hand, and I launched my career in March 2018 and a blog not knowing what the h-e-double hockey stick I was doing!

I might as well be working at Disney World, I am that obsessed, helping women gain a confidence they have longed for all within the strands that flow from our head and better yet giving hair creatives a path to living life in this noisy world vs. the hustle of filling the chair, one after another and being able to enjoy each and every warm body that grace's their chair.

Nowadays, my husband and I break bread (okay, fine: they’re corn chips and we dunk them into guac and queso at our spot, the kitchen table). At the age of 35, I invested $600 into something a hair care product. Something I knew nothing about. Little did I know, that investment would be my one-way ticket to the bigger purpose I had longed for. That single investment is leading me to the 6-figure empire I’m running towards today. Today you can find me tucked away in my 5 acre Oklahoma country oasis with two babes, 3 fur friends, the herd of moo-cows and quirky husband.

I believe in grace. Not a cheap grace, but one about a Jesus big enough to redeem anything from the pit of death, which is what a very broken marriage and living a very broken life recovery feels like.

All the work I do is inspired because I believe that a woman's confidence welds power. Story sells. And that people feel considered when they can see their life coming together all because someone cared enough to show them the possibilities.

That philosophy meanders through my days, whether I’m helping a lady find her ideal hair routine, drafting a business plan for a rebel heart who desires her vision over complacency, typing up a caption, handling a clients order, or licking the stamps for the thank-you cards (that fill my heart to send). Caring for people done right is appreciation-sharing.

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THE GIRL WHO POSED WITH FARM ANIMALS, DANCED TO THE OWN BEAT OF HER DRUM AND WAS ALWAYS FINDING A WAY TO MAKE AN EXTRA BUCK WOULD BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR SOMEDAY.

Ya wanna know what lights me up? Showing people they are allowed to feel, own, and celebrate their enough-ness and feel less alone… because sometimes this journey gets hella lonely and our only friends are called Ben + Jerry (and they conveniently come in the gallon size, Chunky Monkey anyone?) If I can be that permission granter in your life that whispers: “you really can do this” while the rest of the world is provoking doubt… then I’ll consider my job done. #winning
